This bag is sewn from a fairly dense fabric and therefore holds its shape well. Cardboard padding has been added for rigidity of the bottom, and handles are made of leather.
A dense fabric is good for this project, in this case an upholstery fabric is taken. The lining is traditional, and the handles are made of an old belt (you can also sew them from the fabric of a bag or cut them out from thick enough strong leather). It turns out a voluminous, well-shaped, neat shopping bag. For extra rigidity at the bottom - a cardboard pad.

You will need:
- fabric for the bag (in this case - upholstery);
- lining fabric;
- if desired, a strap for the handle;
- dense thin cardboard for laying;
- pencil, crayon or marker for fabric;
- scissors for fabric;
paper scissors;
- ruler;
- pins;
- sewing machine and thread;
- if the handles of the bag are made of leather - a needle for a sewing machine for leather;
- iron.

Step 1
Mark the details of the bag on the fabric. Main fabric: 2 parts 56x46 cm in size with square cutouts 7.5x7.5 cm; 2 strips 56x10 cm. Lining fabric: 2 parts 56x46 cm in size with square cutouts 7.5x7.5 cm.
Cut out the details (no allowances need to be added).Tuck one of the long edges of each strip inwards by 1 cm and iron. Attach the strips to the front sides of the parts made of lining fabric, as shown in the photo (the non-turned edge of the strip coincides with the edge of the part of the lining), and pin it with pins.
Step 2
Sew the strips to the lining details in two lines. Lay a line along the untwisted edge of the strip, departing from the edge about 0.7 cm, a line along the turned edge - 0.2-0.3 cm.
Then fold the parts from the lining with their faces inward and sew on the sides, as well as from the bottom, leaving a hole of 10-12 cm wide un sewn. When laying the stitches, back away from the edge about 1.2 cm.
Step 3
Flatten the seams. Sew the corners, folding the details, as shown in the photo (laying the lines, step back from the edge of 1.2 cm).
Step 4
In the same way, sew 2 parts from the main fabric. The hole in the bottom seam does not need to be left.
Step 5
Cut 2 pieces of 38x15 cm in size from the cardboard. Fold the parts one on top of the other and sew along the perimeter - two layers of cardboard will give greater rigidity to the bottom of the bag.
Step 6
Using cardboard as a template, cut out a piece of lining fabric enough to wrap cardboard with an overlap of about 5 cm. Carefully pull out the cardboard, fix the side edges with pins and sew them. Put the cardboard back into place through the formed pocket.
Step 7
Handles: in this case, 2 pieces of the correct length for the belt are cut. You can cut pens from leather or sew them from the main fabric.
Step 8
From the inside, on the details of the main fabric, mark the places for sewing the handles.
Step 9
Turn the lining inside out and insert part of the bag from the main fabric into it. Using pins, mark the places where the handles are attached. Sew the parts from the lining and the main fabric, leaving the areas where the handles will be sewn unstitched.
Step 10
Turn the bag through the hole in the lining, straighten and iron the seams.
Step 11
Now put the pens in the holes left for them and sew them (if the pens are made of leather, use special needles for the skin). Sew a cardboard and fabric gasket manually from the inside out to the lining. Sew the hole in the bag lining manually with a blind stitch. Done.
